S P E C TACLES / EVENTS

• Adventure Trail for YoungstersNEW especially for children
From 15 to 23 April

Children are invited to discover the history and the heritage of the Citadelle by means of a visit (in the form of a treasure hunt), which will be explained to them upon their arrival. Along the itinerary the children will find various activities and a glass of orangeade will be waiting for them when they have finished. The youngsters who will have brilliantly managed to find the answers to all of the questions will receive a special diploma.

Mini concerts related to the various themes of the site will be performed for the public all over the site: Remembering the French Resistance, Music and Songs of the 1940Õs, 17th century music, animal themes.

23, 24 and 25 June

In partnership with the Haras Nationaux (National Horse Breeding Farms) and those of Besan¨on: several activities concerning horse riding as well as workshops and demonstrations (horse-shoeing, saddleryÉ) will be found throughout the site.

With Roland Bois, former Engineering Officer
23 April, 28 May and 25 June at 4:30 p.m.

The Poison scandal from 1680 until 1947, The Citadelle in Besan¨on welcomedÓ thousands of prisoners. Roland Bois, former Engineering Officer, will tell visitors about the episodes in French History linked to these imprisonings and will give show them through the CitadelleÕs jails.

• The Citadelle during the reign of the Sun King
With a guide attested "Heritage, Artistic Interest and History ".
9 April, 14 May and 11 June at 3 p.m.

The Citadelle of Besan¨on was built between 1668 and 1711. What were peopleÕs lives like three centuries ago? During the visit Roland Bois will guide the public along a voyage to the age of the Sun King.

With a guide attested "Heritage, Artistic Interest and History ".
9 April, 14 May and 11 June at 3 p.m.

4 major themes will be presented by a guide attested "Heritage, Artistic Interest and History " : the defence of the site and the geographic constraints Š the history of the hill before the arrival of Vauban Š Louis XIV and Vauban, - the history and role of the fortress until today.

NIGHT TIME ITINERARIES

• Night time itinerariesNEW
From 15 July to 20 August on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays Continuous itinerary between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and midnight

The general public will be offered the possibility of following an itinerary during which they will discover the various aspects of the monument and its history through sound (texts, voices, music, sound effects), sight (giant projections, specific lighting intended to highlight the remarkable features of the site), the arts (imaginative, realistic or poetic installations as well as actors, musicians, visual artistsÉ).

The itinerary will end with a musical, festive moment while having drink in the Saint Etienne Chapel.
