Museum of Resistance and Deportation

Presentation:

Lecture by Olivier Mannoni
"Brown tide. How fascism is flooding our language"

As early as the 1920s, the Nazis used words to spread and impose their worldview in a racist, anti-Semitic, and warmongering political program.

Translator of Mein Kampf, republished in 2021 under the title Historiciser le mal(Historicizing Evil), Olivier Mannoni offers food for thought by taking a critical look at the book, the language it uses, and the ideas it puts forward.
In his new book, Coulée brune. Comment le fascisme inonde notre langue(Brown Flood: How Fascism is Flooding Our Language), he proposes to study the meaning and use of words in our contemporary societies by analyzing the statements of political leaders and their dissemination in the media.
