LENSE, Vesontio revealed (I)" exhibition From the real to the digital, discover heritage in a different way.

October 21 to November 26, 2023

Vauban monument

Presentation:

Augmented reality, immersive video and the presentation of 3D digitizing expertise: the exhibition offers a digital journey to the heart of the Citadelle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and emblematic landmark of the Bourgogne - Franche-Comté region.

Thanks to hololens (augmented and virtual reality) headsets, visitors will be able to handle a cannon and Vauban's canteen, which accompanied him on his travels to keep his food warm! A section featuring a wall of LED screens will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the digitization of the Citadelle. Tactile tables allow visitors to manipulate 3D models. In addition, a documentary film will present the project and the field work, with the three methods used for digitization: robot dog, hand scanner, drone.

Finally, a dedicated application will also enable the public to discover the former Saint-Etienne church, destroyed at the time of the French conquest to make way for the Front of the same name, in augmented reality.

This exhibition is open daily during the opening hours of the Besançon Citadel.

Further information :
The exhibition "LENSE, Vesontio révélée (I). Du réel au numérique, découvrons le patrimoine autrement" is the result of work carried out by Capture4Cad as part of the 2-year "LENSE, Vesontio révélée" project funded by the French Ministry of Culture. This project is being carried out in partnership with the Citadelle of Besançon and the city's Historical Heritage Department, and focuses on the major monuments of the historic center, of which the Citadelle is a part. The aim of the exhibition is to highlight the work carried out over the past 12 months by Capture4Cad's "Monument Historique et Médiation" department to digitize the entire Citadelle, as well as the possibilities for using this data for mediation purposes.
