LENSE, Vesontio revealed (I)" exhibition From the real to the digital, discover heritage in a different way.

October 21 to November 26, 2023

Vauban monument

Augmented reality, immersive video and the presentation of 3D digitizing expertise: the exhibition offers a digital journey to the heart of the Citadelle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and emblematic landmark of the Bourgogne - Franche-Comté region.

Thanks to hololens (augmented and virtual reality) headsets, visitors will be able to handle a cannon and Vauban's canteen, which accompanied him on his travels to keep his food warm! A section featuring a wall of LED screens will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the digitization of the Citadelle. Tactile tables allow visitors to manipulate 3D models. In addition, a documentary film will present the project and the field work, with the three methods used for digitization: robot dog, hand scanner, drone.

Finally, a dedicated application will also enable the public to discover the former Saint-Etienne church, destroyed at the time of the French conquest to make way for the Front of the same name, in augmented reality.

This exhibition is open daily during the opening hours of the Besançon Citadel.

The exhibition "LENSE, Vesontio révélée (I). Du réel au numérique, découvrons le patrimoine autrement" is the result of work carried out by Capture4Cad as part of the 2-year "LENSE, Vesontio révélée" project funded by the French Ministry of Culture. This project is being carried out in partnership with the Citadelle of Besançon and the city's Historical Heritage Department, and focuses on the major monuments of the historic center, of which the Citadelle is a part. The aim of the exhibition is to highlight the work carried out over the past 12 months by Capture4Cad's "Monument Historique et Médiation" department to digitize the entire Citadelle, as well as the possibilities for using this data for mediation purposes.

Capture4cad is a service company initially specialized in capturing, modeling and reverse engineering buildings as part of BIM and production processes. The expertise, know-how and precision required by woodworking companies have enabled us to develop one of the most accurate realitý scanning processes on the market́.
Experts in 3D scanning and modeling since 2018, Capture4cad has developed its market to satisfy ever-growing demand. Equipped with the latest cutting-edge technologies, the companý operates in a wide range of fields, including construction, real estate and agriculture.
In 2021, Capture4Cad will create a division dedicated to historical monuments, pushing the boundaries of digital technology ever further by this time integrating immersive technologies (AR/VR/XR) to its skills.

Several meetings with the Capture4cad team are scheduled on November 15, 18 and 22, 2023
to discover the different techniques used for digitization, including the presence of "Rocket", the robot dog.
