Every year, the Citadel takes part in the national event “Rendez-vous au jardin,” organized by the Ministry of Culture. On June 6 and 7, 2026, visitors are invited to explore the Citadel’s two gardens and enjoy a variety of activities.
From unobtrusive insects and familiar birds to mammals we may not be as familiar with, the garden is a true haven for many species. Through observation and discussion, participants will discover the wildlife that inhabits our gardens, taking a closer look at this local biodiversity and gaining a better understanding of the connections between these animals and their environment.
A docent from the Besançon Museum of Natural History will be on hand.
