Museum of Resistance and Deportation
Workshop visit

As the exhibition rooms can't accommodate a whole class, the museum offers you a workshop tour supervised by two mediators: while the 1st group tours the museum, the second takes part in a workshop.

Visit: discover the new temporary exhibition at the Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportation in Besançon, designed around an everyday object: the suitcase. Now synonymous with escape or travel, the suitcase illustrates other realities in the context of the Second World War: the exile of Spanish Republicans, the exodus, the fight of the Resistance, deportation, the extermination of Jews and the preservation of the traces of history for future generations. Drawing on its own collections and numerous loans from other institutions, the museum explores this object and its various uses.

Workshop: How do you reconstruct a life at war from scattered documents? By discovering a selection of archives, students question and compare them, and learn about the work of historical investigation.

School level: 3rd to Terminale
Duration: 2h30 (1h15 visit + 1h15 workshop) - Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays until December 31, 2025 (closing date of the temporary exhibition)
Group size: 1 class divided into 2 groups (up to 18 pupils per group)
