Follow the Citadel signs from the town centre. Parking near the site subject to availability. Pay and display car park with a limited number of spaces (€0.70 per hour, max. €7/day).

Recommended form of travel: city bus
We recommend getting to the site via bus line GINKO CITADELLE (Chamars <> Citadelle) from Besançon town centre.
Bus line runs from April to October, times vary, check beforehand on the Ginko website.

On foot
Enjoy a choice of two pleasant walks to the site and take full advantage of the views over the old town, the meander of the Doubs encircling Besançon and the surrounding landscape. Follow the signed routes from the Rodia car park and town centre (Tarragnoz - rue Charles Nodier near the police station, and Porte Rivotte - Rivotte car park).
Allow around 30 minutes. The route includes some stairs. Wear comfortable shoes.

Access for disabled visitors
Please note that the steep slopes on the first part of the site may cause difficulties for disabled visitors.
We have a vehicle that can transport disabled visitors to the upper section of the site on request and depending on staff availability. Wheelchair and scooter users may be permitted (subject to certain conditions) to enter the site with their vehicle to reach the flat section. Check at the ticket office.
